Garramilla/Darwin, 17th-19th November 2025
Applied Linguistics Association of Australia Conference 2025
Larrakia Country
The 2025 ALAA conference will take place in Darwin, Northern Territory, at Charles Darwin University’s new state-of-the-art city campus, Danala. Danala is a Larrakia word for dillybag, which represents a place to house knowledge. Hosted by the linguistics department in the Faculty of Arts and Society, we look forward to welcoming you to Darwin to share knowledge and ideas across the three days of the conference.
This year’s theme Language and the interface of mono-/multi-/translingual mindsets invites applied linguists, language teachers, curriculum specialists, Indigenous education practitioners, teacher trainers, and students to consider sharing their research at this year’s conference. The conference will be held November 17-19, 2025.
The conference program will explore the conference theme, the four sub-themes and related strands within applied linguistics.
