We acknowledge the Larrakia people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and we continue to live and work on unceded land.
The 2025 ALAA conference will take place in Darwin, Northern Territory, at Charles Darwin University’s new state-of-the-art city campus, Danala. Danala is a Larrakia word for dillybag, which represents a place to house knowledge. Hosted by the linguistics department in the Faculty of Arts and Society, we look forward to welcoming you to Darwin to share knowledge and ideas across the three days of the conference. Further information about the location and where to stay will be updated on this website shortly.
This year’s theme Language and the interface of mono-/multi-/translingual mindsets invites applied linguists, language teachers, curriculum specialists, Indigenous education practitioners, teacher trainers, and students to consider sharing their research at this year’s conference.
The call for papers is now open and we are accepting proposals for papers, workshops and colloquium.
